Sarah Rivas

Sarah Rivas

School Manager

I always knew cosmetology was in my future; I would always cut and style my family's hair. They encouraged me to go and get my cosmetology license. In 1978 I earned my cosmetology license.

After that I worked in Houston, TX as a stylist for 11 years. In 1989 I went back to school to earn my Instructors license. Since then I have worked in Houston/Kerrville as an Instructor/Manager. In 2006 I came to work for Mr. Carroll Lewing at Academy of Hair Design. It has been a very rewarding experience. I teach the manicurist program and manager of the school. I enjoy teaching so much. When I see a former student that is doing great! That is what its all about for me. That is my reward for playing a small part in their future. So came by meet me and the others we would love to show you around and talk with about the school.

People

Celita Harper

Instructor

My name is Celita Harper and I came to the Academy of Hair Design in 1996. Since recieving my license in 1997 I've worked in numerous salons. In 2009 I decided to come back to get my instructors license. I love being an instructor, teaching students new skills, and watching them grow. Clipper cutting is my passion and I love teaching the skill. I look forward to meeting new students and helping them to succeed in their career choice.

Duran

Sandra Duran

Instructor

I took cosmetology in high school back in 1983 and it was only for credits so I could graduate, never thinking in making a career out of it. But it's 23 years later and I am still working in the cosmetology field. I have worked as a stylist and salon owner for 20 years and I have taught at Academy of Hair Design the last 3 years. My duties at the Academy is to teach the theory classes cosmetology students and supervise them while they are working on clients on the clinic floor.

Cosmetology is rewarding because you touch people's self-esteem in a profound way. Making people look good on the outside as they do on the inside is very moving. I'd like to extent this invitation to you and come see me and say hello. Hang out with me at the school for a day, I know you'll have fun!

Glaze

Tina Glaze

State Board Instructor

My name is Tina Glaze. I enrolled at Academy of Hair Design in 2001 after working in dead end jobs that didn't pay well. I was hired by Master cuts where I worked as a manager/stylist. My specialties are razor cuts and color. I was called by the director to give the students a haircutting class. It was an experience of my life. I actually saw how interested the students were about learning new things and how dedicated the instructors were with the students. I then decided I wanted to become an instructor and share my knowledge to all interested students. I believe that everyone should learn at least one thing a day and that you are never to old or young to learn. You just need an open mind and a will to learn.

Schwartz

Tammy Schwartz

Administration/Instructor

My name is Tammy Schwartz. I enrolled in a private school in Stephenville Texas in 2002. I later transferred my hours to Academy of Hair Design in Lufkin Texas. In school my specialties were perms, cuts, and nails. I graduated in 2004. After receiving my license I opened and operated my hair salon for 2 years. My passion while working was nails. Gel nails and acrylic nails were my favorite.

In March of 2007 I received my Instructors license. I was later hired by Mr. Lewing to work in the administration department. Even though I was hired to do administration work, my passion is to teach the nail technician. I now have a part time teaching job. I invite you to see me and let's talk about how I can get you started in this wonderful career of cosmetology!
